The blatant inaccuracies depicted in Opie's movie in 2005, and the continued perpetuation of the movie's lies, which have since spread across the internet, further tarnishing Max Baer's legacy, as well as greatly disturbing those who knew him, simply cannot continue. Max Baer's son, Max Baer Jr. said that "the only thing he got right about my father in that movie was the fact that he was a boxer." Therein lies my motivation for creation of this website: to refute the misinformation, to compile and present research that allows a glimpse into the thoughts behind the man's actions and most importantly, to present as accurate a picture as possible of Max Baer with all his faults, but most especially his wonderful foibles.

Researching a century's paper trail, and tracking down those who knew Max Baer and still grace this Earth, without a group of paid staff readily available, can be most time consuming. Please consider this website a work in progress, I'm just getting started ! By all means if you have questions, information, personal reminiscence, pictures or film to share, or want to debate or repute what I've written (and have references to back it up), please get in touch with me. I'd like this to be the site to go to for honest dialogue about Max Baer.

Enjoy !
Cat
